"Safe School"

The goal of the "Safe School" program is to prepare students and teaching staff of schools and universities to respond to crisis situations, such as a knife attack or a terrorist attack. The training includes both theory and practical simulations designed to make participants aware of how to stay safe and how to effectively respond in emergencies.

Detailed Training Organization Plan

Introduction to the topic of threats:

A brief overview of the most common types of threats in the school environment (e.g., situations related to attacks on students and teachers).

Discussion on current challenges related to safety and the psychological preparation of children and school staff.

Identifying threats:

Learning to recognize early signs indicating potential threats.

Presentation of methods and ways to assess crisis situations.

Procedures for dealing with crisis situations:

Practical discussion of alarm procedures: how to inform emergency services, as well as how to cooperate with teaching staff, psychologists/pedagogues, and collaboration with security personnel.

Ways to behave in emergency situations through specific examples.

Practical exercises with threat simulations:

Simulation of a knife attack and terrorist attack. Participants will practice quick and appropriate responses such as: escape, hiding, and reporting the threat.

Physical, psychological, and sexual violence: who to inform in case such a situation arises.

Practical first aid classes in crisis situations.

Module on psychological support after a crisis:

Discussion of the role of crisis psychology in training.

How to support students and school staff after a traumatic event.

Procedures for response by teaching staff:

Recognizing threatening situations and responding to them.

Prevention measures to ensure safety in schools.

Support for children, youth, and staff after a crisis.
